We have many years of experience in organising language programmes for both companies and private people and consider quality, flexibility and a personal approach extremely important. Each candidate starting a course has his/her own objectives and we regard it as our task to create the right atmosphere and encourage him/her to reach these goals.

Dutch language and culture for intermediate or advanced students
This programme is suitable for people who have just arrived in Holland and want to learn a basic practical knowledge of the Dutch language and culture. This course helps them to understand Dutch people and their way of living. They learn to communicate effectively in a lot of situations both at work and in the street. In class, Dutch is the language of communication which stimulates them to use it every day and builds up their confidence. Apart from providing cultural information, our Dutch language programmes contain a balance between listening and speaking skills, grammatical forms, reading skills, general vocabulary build-up, business jargon and writing skills.cultuur.
An intermediate /advanced course of Dutch is suitable for people with a basic knowledge of the language who want to extend it: enlarging vocabulary, grammatical forms, idiom etc. At this level people may want to improve their knowledge of the language in general or specific areas: Listening and speaking skills (focussed on the business world). We organise individual/group trainings for people with different professional backgrounds such as managers, medical specialists, nurses, mechanical engineers, art students etc.). Each training is focussed on their specific needs ( meetings, business conversation/contact with colleagues, superiors, writing reports, customer-service etc.) and adapted to their language level, which we discuss during an intake We also organise special language programmes for expats, their partners and children. When you contact Taalbureau Symbol, Jeannette Smulders will advise you. She is a native speaker of Dutch and has studied English Language and Literature at The Free University of Amsterdam. She started her own language institute in 1990.

Learn to speak English or Dutch fluently
During an intake we will discuss the specific language problems and  needs of a student (an employee working for a company, for example, may have problems communicating  with customers or colleagues). Then we will advise a language programme and discuss this with his employer.
Taalbureau Symbol offers both individual language courses and courses for small (3 - 4) or larger (6 - 8) groups. An intensive course (20 – 30 hours a week) is suitable for people who want to reach a basic level within a short period of time especially if limited time is available. A flexible programme (once a week – 2 hours) is desired if students prefer to learn the language gradually. During the week they can put into practice what they have learnt in class and also discuss problems/situations that they come across during the week both socially and professionally. The number of hours necessary for a basic knowledge is 30 – 40 hours, with a follow-up of another 30 - 40 hours. Courses focussed on specific skills (telephoning, writing reports, negotiating, meetings etc.)  take 15 - 20 hours. Location: We can organise courses in-company or at our office in Almere.
Taalbureau Symbol also: Coaches people preparing for the 'Staatsexamen NT2' ( State examination for Dutch as a second language) level I and II. Organises general conversational courses of Dutch.
Taalbureau Symbol also: Prepares people who are studying for the 'Cambridge         exams' such as FCE, CAE. Organises general conversational courses of English Organises extra English classes for secondary school         students
